Monday, February 6, the City of Richmond was recognized by the Texas Comptroller’s Office for outstanding service in financial transparency. The city received the Comptroller Silver Leadership Circle Award for the 2nd year in a row.
The Comptroller of Public Accounts launched the Texas Comptroller Leadership Circle program in December 2009 to recognize local governments across Texas that are striving to meet a high standard for financial transparency online. The award spotlights those local governments that open their books to the public by providing clear, consistent pictures of spending and share information in user-friendly format(s) that allows taxpayers to easily gather more clear and concise information.
Richmond City Manager Terri Vela said “As stewards of our city’s tax dollars, it is important to provide sound financial leadership to the City and our citizens, so they know those funds are being used efficiently.”
