Richmond voters to select two commissioners
When voters in Richmond elected last spring to change the city charter to double the number of commissioners from two to four it created two vacant positions on the council.
A special election to fill those positions will be held 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sept. 10. Early voting runs Aug. 24 through Sept. 6.
There is a four-way race for position No. 3 and a two-way race for position No. 4 on the Richmond City Commission. The former race includes Carlos Garcia, Ben. J. Mund, Charles W. Yates Jr., and Carl Drozd. The latter race pits Alice Bijarro against Josh Lockhart.
Early voting by personal appearance will be conducted each weekday at Richmond City Water Facility located at 110 North 8th Street, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Extended hours for early voting will be held Sept. 6 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The polls will be closed on Aug. 27-28 and Sept. 3-5.
On Sept. 10 polls will be open at the Richmond Water Maintenance Facility and also the George Memorial Library at 1001 Golfview.
