AUGUST 1, 1947 – MAY 11, 2017
Robert LeRoy Ziegner was born August 1, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois and went to be with his Heavenly Father on May 11, 2017. Robert graduated Sherman High School in Sherman, TX in 1966.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from Texas A&M-Commerce in 1979.
Robert’s career was that of a manufacturing engineer. He was a Master Mason of the Grand Lodge of Texas, Travis Chapter Number 117.
His accomplishments included earning a 9th degree black belt in Judo and serving as a Judo instructor of approximately 40 years. He loved woodworking and various collections including vintage coins.
Since retiring seven years ago, his hobby of working on cars turned into a “fun” business with Ziggy’s Hot Rod Shop. Robert built many classic cars over the years and made many great friends in the process.
Robert was proceeded in death by his parents Robert LeRoy Ziegner Sr. and Marjorie Virginia Hocker Ziegner and a sister, Annabelle Ziegner.
Survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Sherry Beth Ballou Ziegner.
They were high school sweethearts and truly best friends and soul mates. Two beautiful children, a son, Jonathan Ziegner and his wife Mitzi of Lubbock, TX and a daughter, Amy Ziegner Simmons and husband David of Richmond, TX. Five wonderful grandchildren, Nathan and Viviana Ziegner of Lubbock and Blake, Mikayla and Aubree Simmons of Richmond.
Services were held Monday, May 15, 2017 at Grand Parkway Baptist Church.
Burial took place Tuesday, May 16th at Cederlawn Memorial Park, 5805 Texoma Parkway in Sherman, TX.
