Rosenberg’s City Council has decided to cancel plans for a November bond election and move forward with a proposal for the May 2014 election instead.
The City’s bond referendum would have been at the same time as Fort Bend County’s bond election but finance director Joyce Vasut was told several Rosenberg road projects had been pulled from the county’s Mobility Bond Election.
The projects affected include Herndon Drive/Mustang Avenue, Airport and Bryan Road.
In addition, the city has yet to issue all the debt from the 2006 bond election.
“City staff has not finalized the city improvements program priorities for Fiscal Year 2014 with city council and city staff has not received council’s input on recommended propositions for the bond election,” said Vasut.
Another concern, according to Vasut, was that the city had not prepared a campaign to educate citizens on the various bond proposals.
The $12.5 million bond measure would have included 10 projects including downtown sidewalks, a nature center at Seabourne Creek Park and additional security cameras around the city.
