A security guard responding to an alarm call was gunned down at a construction business in far east Fort Bend County. Early Wednesday morning, April 20, at 12:34 a.m., sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting call in the 8400 block of F.M. 2234, in Fresno.
Sheriff’s spokesperson Terriann Carlson identified the business as J. D. Abrams, a construction site on FM 2234/McHard Road. She went on to explain that the initial investigation indicates that security guard Fidel Sanchez, 26, of Houston, responded to the alarm call. When Sanchez arrived on the scene, he was “fatally shot during a major theft of construction materials at J. D. Abrams.” Carlson said detectives have determined that when Sanchez arrived he discovered a theft in progress and was subsequently shot by unknown suspect(s).
Suffering from gunshot wounds, Sanchez was transported by emergency medical services to Memorial Hermann Hospital, downtown, and pronounced dead shortly thereafter. Authorities have no information about the number of or the identity of any suspects.
