The 2013 Fort Bend County Fair is fast approaching and the Senior Citizens’ Day committee is busy preparing for the annual Senior Citizens Day event. This year’s event will be held again in Building “C” at the Fort Bend County Fair on Monday September 23.
“This year we will be serving a stew meal donated by Krogers and cooked with love by our amazing Sr. Citizens’ Day Committee. Attendees will also be treated to a vast array of entertainment including bingo and live music” said James Duke, Co-Director in Charge. “Senior Citizens’ Day is designated for seniors, age 55 and up only, to enjoy a special day in their honor.”
Long time “Voice of The Senior Citizens’ Day Event,” Bud Smith, will again serve as master of ceremony for this event. “Bud has become an icon at the Fort Bend County Fair. He lends his voice to numerous Fair events” stated Fair Manager, Susan Sillavan.
This popular event draws about 1,500 people annually and this year promises to be no exception. Activities begin at 9 AM Monday, September 23rd in Building C. The doors open at 8 AM. Seating is available on a first come, first serve basis. “Every year we enjoy the company of the senior citizens of the Fort Bend County area” said Jennifer Williams, Co-Director in Charge of the committee.
“We as volunteers learn from the seniors we serve. I know many individuals who eagerly anticipate this day each year and when they arrive it is like a family reunion to them.”
The 2013 Committee chairpersons Ron Castillo and Brandy Leonhardt encourage volunteers, sponsors and vendors for the one day event to contact the Fair Office at 281-342-6171 or visit www.fortbendcountyfair.com for information.
