Everyone has differing opinions when it comes to the topic of summertime. Some people like to use this time find fun and exciting things to do, such as vacationing or taking advantage of the neighborhood pool, while others choose this time to relax and take it easy. To get a better idea of how the Wertheimer Hawks like to spend their summer vacations, I spoke to three of my classmates. While some shared similar ideas of fun, each had their own unique take on the best way to “chill” during the summer months!
First, I asked what made them most excited about summer. Macie Palamarez, friend and choir classmate, said that she loves going on trips to interesting places with her family. Classmate and close friend Taylor Schoolar told me that what she really likes the most is the extra time that she gets to hang out with her friends. My good friend, Jared Martin, said that he is just happy to have a must-needed break from school!
When asked about fun memories from past summers, Macie told me that she treasured her experiences exploring various new places while Taylor confessed that she was thrilled about the opportunity to see One Direction in concert as well playing at Schlitterbahn waterpark. Jared mentioned how he really enjoyed visiting his grandparents’ home in Louisiana.
I was also curious about what my friends envisioned as the “perfect” summer. Macie’s dream summer involved lots of travel, and she said she would especially enjoy a trip to Disney World! While just as fun, but closer to home, Taylor said her perfect summer involved daily swims in the pool with her friend Madeline, hosting plenty of sleepovers and eating sno-cones. And lastly, Jared told me that the ideal summer for him simply includes hanging out with his friends and family and playing video games.
It is clear that summer is a popular time with everyone, because we all need a break! It is healthy for students, parents and teachers to have some time to relax and spend time doing the things that we love. So, take a deep breath and let the countdown to summertime begin!
