Fort Bend County Libraries’ Sienna Branch Library will feature a free Summer Movie Series beginning in June. A different family movie will be shown each week in the Large Meeting Room of the library, located at 8411 Sienna Springs Blvd in Missouri City.
The movie series will begin on Friday, June 14, with an animated feature starring the voices of Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez, and Andy Samburg. Dracula opens a lavish 5-stake resort, where famous monsters such as Frankenstein and his bride, the Mummy, and others can bring their families and live it up, free from meddling humans. For Dracula, catering to all of these legendary monsters is no problem, but his troubles begin when one ordinary guy stumbles upon the hotel and takes a shine to Dracula’s daughter, Mavis. The movie is rated PG. Showtime is 2:00 pm.
The feature film on Tuesday, June 18, is a comedy-action-sci-fi film starring Will Smith as Agent J, a streetwise NYPD detective who joins a secret organization that polices extraterrestrial affairs on Earth. Boris the Animal breaks out of a moon-based maximum-security prison and goes back in time to eliminate the person who arrested him – Agent K. When he does so, Agent J realizes that the time line has been changed, and he follows Boris back in time to July 15, 1969 – the day before Agent K is killed. After overcoming some disbelief, Agent J convinces Agent K of who he is and why he is there, and they enlist the help of a being who can see all time lines to track down the escaped villain. This movie is rated PG-13. Showtime is 6:00 pm.
The series continues on Friday, June 28, with an animated feature film about a boundlessly enthusiastic — if somewhat less-than-successful – pirate captain. After years of humiliation and failed attempts to win the coveted Pirate-of-the-Year Award, Pirate Captain and his oddball crew are determined to take on the cream of the pirating crop – Black Bellamy, Peg Leg Hastings, and Cutlass Liz – in a race to pillage the most booty and win the top prize. The quest takes Captain and his crew from the shores of Blood Island to the foggy streets of Victorian London, where Captain must choose between basking in the glory of being crowned Pirate of the Year, or staying faithful to his trusted crew. This movie is rated PG. Showtime is 2:00 pm.
All of the movies are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. For more information about the featured movies, call the branch library at 281-238-2900 or the library’s Public Information Office at 281-341-2677.
