Skeeters announce Deacon’s Stars and Stripes Charity Softball Game
Benefitting the Sugar Land Skeeters Foundation and Behind the Badge; April 16 at Constellation Field
The Sugar Land Skeeters announced today that the Deacon’s Stars and Stripes Charity Softball Classic, presented by enTouch Business, will be held on Saturday, April 16 at Constellation Field. The inaugural charity softball game will raise money and awareness for the Sugar Land Skeeters Baseball Foundation including the Deacon’s Dugout Initiative and Behind the Badge charities.
Grover “Deacon” Jones, former American professional baseball player, coach, manager and scout, has served as a special advisor to the Sugar Land Skeeters since the team’s creation in 2012. Deacon is well-known in the community for his efforts to help youth related projects or experiences for the culturally, racially and economically diverse population in Fort Bend surrounding counties.
“I’m excited to host this first-time event at Constellation Field to raise money for the Skeeters Foundation and for an important charity like Behind the Badge,” Jones said. “I have been given plenty opportunities in my career to help others and this event holds a special place in my heart as it involves the Skeeters organization and our Foundation.”
