The Skeeters used a five run fourth inning to beat the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 7-2 on Monday night. Both Dustin Martin (double) and Anthony Granato (triple) drove in two in the inning and the Skeeters never looked back. The victory was Sugar Land’s ninth straight win, extending their franchise record.
Blue Crabs’ starting pitcher Ian Marshall had retired nine straight Sugar Land batters to start the game and lead 2-0, after two innings. After the five run fourth that gave Sugar Land a 5-2 lead, they would add solo runs in the sixth and seventh and win by that final of 7-2. Roy Corcoran provided spotless relief in the seventh and eighth and Adam Miller held the Blue Crabs hitless in the ninth to preserve the victory.
