“The Buzz Brigrade”
The Sugar Land Skeeters is introducing a youth fan club “The Buzz Brigade” in partnership with Kroger, the team’s official grocery store. The Brigade will give young fans the opportunity to receive the VIP treatment when they attend games during the inaugural season. As an added bonus to members of the club, the first 200 members to sign up will receive tickets to historic opening day on April 26 and participate in the on field ceremonies before the game.
“It is a great fit to find a company in Kroger that has the same philosophy that we do about kids,” said Christopher Hill, Skeeters Vice President for Business Development. “We feel this partnership is all about providing wonderful opportunities for the children of Greater Houston. The Buzz Brigade will give children the opportunity to be part of the team in season and out. ”
The Buzz Brigade presented by Kroger is the chance for children ages 13 and under to be a part of the team. When kids join The Brigade, they will enjoy the ultimate Skeeters experience, which includes, a commemorative membership card, kids’ club backpack, an autograph card from Swatson, ticket to the Houston Zoo, lanyard and much more. Membership is just $25 for one child or $20 per child when families with two or more kids sign up.
Every member will receive tickets to three games during the inaugural season, including closing day and an invitation to the Peanut Butter & Jelly Banquet during the game July 8. After the first 200, those who join the Brigade will get a ticket to an available game of their choice.
“Kroger is thrilled to partner with the Sugar Land Skeeters,” says Rebecca King, Consumer Affairs Manager. “Kroger has served families in Sugar Land and surrounding areas for many years. The ballpark will be a great addition to the area and present us with the opportunity to further our company’s commitments to fight hunger and advance childhood education.”
The corporate partnership also includes sponsorship of the Kroger Lawn, the lawn seating area located in right field. Kroger will sponsor a program that will allow fans to purchase lawn-seating tickets at area Kroger stores for $8. The price of an individual ticket will also include a Skeeters cap and hot dog at the game. The Skeeters and Kroger are also teaming up to raise funds for the Houston Food Bank during the 7th inning stretch of home games. Game goers that purchase the concession food of the night within the inning will receive a discount, and the Houston Food Bank will receive a percentage of the proceeds from each night’s special.
