The Spay Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP) will provide FREE spaying, neutering and rabies vaccination at Sugar Land Animal Services, 101 Gillingham Lane, on Jan. 17.
The free services will be provided to families who qualify based on one of the following criteria: food stamp participation; families served by the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program; eligibility in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Women, Infants, and Children program; Medicaid recipients; Eligibility for Social Security Disability/Supplemental Security Income benefits; a qualifying major Veterans’ Administration disability; those receiving services from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; participation in the Children’s Health Insurance Program; and children enrolled in the free or reduced lunch program.
The SNAP advance team will arrive between 6:30-7:30 a.m. Services will be provided through a lottery system — once the SNAP advance team arrives, people will draw a number and line up accordingly. There will be no advantage in arriving before 6:30 a.m.
All dogs and cats should be on a leash or in a carrier. Dogs and cats should not have food or water after 10 p.m. the night before surgery.
