
The Townecreek School in Missouri City held its annual “Snow Day” event on January 18. Students and their parents were welcome to come out and play in the snow and warm up afterward with some hot chocolate and doughnuts.
his event marks the beginning of winter and the teachers incorporate this event into their curriculum.
Ms. Charlette’s Kindergarten class learned about different climates and weather patterns, which was reinforced with snow play.
The Pre-k classes taught by Ms. Joan and Ms. Lisa, use snow day to open discussion about the types of animals that live in the snow.
Snow day also provides toddlers an opportunity to use their sense of touch while introducing them to different types of weather. While Snow Day can be used to foster learning, the children really enjoy playing in the snow.
