Not this time…..It has been reported to me that several people have called the “Star” wanting me to write about the upcoming elections, both city and school board. They want advice about who to vote for.
I’m sorry I’ve let you down. As a matter of fact, I’ve let myself down and I will go to the voting booth this Saturday (I think I’ve missed early voting) without the proper knowledge to cast an informed ballot.
No, this libel suit has not scared me off from writing exactly what I think about some of our local people, although I don’t think any other newspaper in Fort Bend does this.
You see, I’ve been waylaid by an on-going illness and tied up in court for the past nine days. When you are fighting for your life, both literally and figuratively, you don’t have much stomach to wade through a bunch of resumes to determine who you are going to support.
I would say that if you are completely uninformed, ask one of your neighbors or friends that you trust and who has kept up with this to give you advice. I have some very good friends who usually send out emails to garner support for candidates. Sometimes I agree with them; sometimes I don’t. But I guess this time, I’m just going to have to go with one of them.
As an added note: be sure and thank those people who have had the guts to run. In these trying economic times for our cities and school districts, it’s a thankless job to be on either. Anyone who wants to meet that challenge deserves our respect and gratitude.
