Space is short this week and so is this…..Several of you have asked about my health. Thank you. Here’s the situation. I’m taking radiation treatment for breast cancer at M.D. Anderson (more about that in a later column–they are great!). Radiation treatments are typically 30 treatments in six weeks going five days a week.
Radiation treatments are like flying to Australia.
When I asked County Clerk Dianne Wilson what it was like flying to Australia after she started having grandchildren there, she related to me a story told to her by Lynne Humphries who married an Aussie and visits annually.
She said Lynne told her that when you fly to Australia, you fly and fly until you think you can’t stand to fly one more minute. That’s when you are halfway there.
When you take radiation treatments, you go and go until you think you can’t make one more trip there. That’s when you are halfway through.
