In addition to the regularly scheduled children’s programs, the youth services department at Fort Bend County Libraries’ First Colony Branch Library, located at 2121 Austin Parkway in Sugar Land, will present a series of special summer programs for children and their families.
A Father’s Day Craft Drop-In will take place on Friday, June 14, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Make a crafty gift for a special dad during this come-and-go craft time.
“Preschoolers, Literacy & Technology” will take place on Saturday, June 15, beginning at 10:30 am. After a short story time activity period, parents will learn about the advantages of using different types of technology to encourage their children to become life-long readers. See how reading online books, using mobile reading devices, or playing computer games can enhance the reading experience for children.
On Friday, June 21, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, come to “Movie Mania!” to watch a popular family film. Children under the age of 5 should be accompanied by a caregiver. Those attending the movie may bring a pillow or cushion. Refreshments will be served.
On Saturday, June 22, enjoy educational fun for the whole family when the Houston Museum of Natural Science’s Discovery Dome comes to the library! Watch a 25-minute, science-related film presentation in this portable, planetarium-style theater. Children must be accompanied by their caregiver. Free hand stamps, which are available 30 minutes before each show, are required for admission. The first show time is at 1:00 pm.
The programs are free and open to the public. For more information, please call the branch library at 281-238-2800 or the Public Information Office at 281-341-2677.
