Spring Break is vacation time during the spring—usually in March or April. It is a great time to do whatever your family likes, whether it is staying at home and chillin’ or going on trips to faraway lands. I got to speak with some Wertheimer students and staff about how they feel about Spring Break and what they enjoy doing.
My friend Maddie says, “[Spring Break] means not having to wake up at 6:00 AM in the morning. This year I’m going to Miami, Florida. We’re going to be near the beach, in a hotel on the top floor where we can see everything! I like staying home, but we travel a lot and have fun too. If I could do anything on Spring Break I would sleep in all day, [be served] breakfast (which would be breakfast tacos)…then, for dinner I would have lasagna. I would do that all week!” Maddie also mentioned how much she also loves McDonald’s and told me that one Spring Break that’s all she ate on a trip to Washington D.C.!
Another friend, Pearlyn, tells me, “[Spring Break means] time to relax with family and friends. My dad is coming back from Hong Kong to visit. [Usually] I stay home or go to Galveston, TX. My favorite memory was when I went to Galveston with all my friends and we had a lot of fun.” Pearlyn told me that if she could travel anywhere for Spring Break, she would “go to Paris and see all the pretty stuff!”
My friend Rachel mentioned that she feels that Spring Break is, “just a break off of school for students–for all their hard work throughout the year.” Over her Spring Break she tells me that she’s going to eat and sleep and maybe visit her family. “I usually stay home or go to my cousin’s [house] or she will go to mine. I would like to travel. My favorite [Spring Break] was when I was at my cousin’s house and then we went to Kemah and had a lot of fun.”
Our school librarian, Mrs. Day, talked to me about how much she enjoys her vacation as well. “[Spring Break] is also for teachers! One thing that is great about it is that we get a freedom of choice.” Whether you like hanging at the house or traveling with your family, the vacation from school gives students and their families the chance to choose!
We had a lot of fun talking about Spring Break and sharing experiences and it really made me excited about our upcoming spring vacation. We can’t wait!
