The Stafford High boys soccer team advanced to the UIL Class 4A regional quarterfinals for the second consecutive season after scoring a resounding 6-1 area victory over Bay City on Friday night at Spartans Stadium.

“I’m very proud of our kids’ effort tonight – they played very well,” Stafford head coach Ruben Perez said.

The Spartans (15-2-3) will face Wharton or Houston Wheatley in the regional quarterfinals on Tuesday, with the winner of that game advancing to the Regional Semifinals in College Station.

Stafford jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead, and senior Jay Scurlock finished with three goals in the victory.
