Amanda Sanders began playing volleyball in the 7th grade at Stafford Immediate school. Through hard work and dedication, strength and sacrifice, she continued this extra-curricular activity through high school, playing on the varsity team as a freshman, and college on scholarship. Currently she is a senior at Oklahoma Wesleyan University majoring in Exercise Science Pre-Therapy. During her volleyball career, Amanda has received many awards for academia and athleticism, in fact, 3 awards for Libero of the Week were earned within two months in 2013. She also was given Honorable Mention 2nd Team at the Midland Conference in 2011, all while making the deans list.
Amanda has been selected to represent the USA by AIST, American International Sports Teams, and will travel to Italy this summer to compete in cities like Rome, Pistolla, San Marino, Vecenza and Erba. “I have been playing competitive volleyball almost my entire life, from travel teams to high school, college and highly ranked club programs,” Amanda explained. “We are heading to Italy to compete against teams from all over the world, visit important historic sites and work with some of the best coaches in the sport.”
But she needs help getting there. She’s asking for sponsors of $25 or more to help cover the travel costs. If you sign up through her website: reachingourgoal.com/KBBPOZ. Amanda will keep you up to date on the “highlights during the trip so you can see what I see!” At this time she is $1,900 away from making her dream a reality.
Proud Dad, Kevin Sanders, said, “My wife Jennifer, and my two sons Joshua and Caleb, are so proud of Amanda. She has become a more caring person. She has matured in that respect. I am proud that she has a good core of friends from high school. They still hang out together when Amanda comes home for the holidays. I appreciate the coaches and teachers at Stafford that helped her from middle school through senior high. Also I appreciate the Club coaches that helped her improve as volleyball player.” Next fall, even though Amanda has earned enough credits to graduate a year early, she will return to OKWU to play her final year on the volleyball team. Now that’s dedication!
