A Stafford Municipal ISD middle school teacher has been released from jail on bond after he was arrested for what officials identified as inappropriate communications with a student.
Stafford Police Department Public Information Officer Raphael Virata said Paul Roberts, a middle school math teacher, was arrested and booked into the Fort Bend County Jail on a charge of inappropriate teacher student relationship after authorities discovered inappropriate text and social media communications between Roberts and at least one student.
Virata went on to explain that other allegations are being investigated but declined to elaborate.
Paul Roberts was a shining star at the Stafford MISD. In 2011, as a new teacher, he was Teacher of the Year and won the 2011 Chrystal Award for “standing out from the crowd.” Since his arrest Roberts has been removed from the classroom.
Although he has not been indicted, he was released from jail on a $7,500 bond.
