State Education Commissioner to visit Sugar Land on Friday

Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce’s Education Division will host the newly appointed Texas Commissioner of Education,  Mike Morath: Leading Texas Education on Friday from 11:30-1 p.m. at the Sugar Land Marriott.  This luncheon will be presented by The Harris Law Firm with underwriter support by AG|CM, Inc., AUTOARCH Architects, and Fluor. Governor Greg Abbott appointed Mike Morath to be the Commissioner of the Texas Education Agency where he will oversee the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the state’s 1,200 school districts and charter schools.

Morath has served on the Dallas Independent School District Board (DISD) of Trustees since being elected to that position in 2011. Morath has been a change-agent at DISD who led reforms that helped propel Dallas public schools to achieve greater student and operational outcomes,  including:
