Since 2002, Coca-Cola has awarded more than 800 college scholarships to employees’ children through the prestigious Coca-Cola Johnston Legacy Scholarship (JLS) program.
By supporting the pillars of the Company’s Live Positively platform in the areas of Community and Education, the JLS program continues its tradition by awarding 100 scholarships to the children of employees. The program selects recipients for 90 one-time scholarships worth $5,000 and 10 four-year scholarships totaling $20,000.
Rachel Stone of Missouri City was selected by the scholarship committee for her outstanding talents and has received $5,000 to continue her educational pursuits. Rachel plans to attend Harding University next fall. Rachel’s father is Gary Stone and at the Bissonnet production facility in Houston. Stone is an Internal Controls Manager and has been with the company since 1987.
“This scholarship will help me attain my goal of higher education. It also show’s Coca-Cola’s commitment to youth development,” said Rachel. “As a child of a local Coca-Cola employee, I am especially grateful to have this opportunity.”
As in previous years, the JLS Class of 2012 was selected by an independent judging panel and evaluated based on academic achievement, school activities, volunteer/community service, honors/recognitions, as well as other special talents and skills.
