Dear Editor,
I am writing you to you because I am an angered student of the Fort Bend Independent School District. It is very exasperating that they are letting students from other districts come to our schools, and be able to use our facilities. Their parents do not pay FBISD school taxes. These students are receiving the benefits of our district without contributing.
This angers me because I am a straight ‘A’ student, who behaves and has goals. I make the district look good by scoring 100 % on my Taks and all other standardized test. I have asked the district if I could do alternative Physical Education. They are refusing to let me do it. I am a golfer and I play in tournaments with people from other districts that do what I would like to do for P.E.
This is going to make it hard for me to remain competitive in my sport. In order to do Alternative P.E. I would be making a commitment to spend 15 hours per week vs. the 5 hours in regular P.E. at a campus. I am being refused the right to do more than everyone else. It is very aggravating that a student from our district who wants to do more is rejected while kids from other districts don’t have to pay and are given opportunities to use the things our taxpayers have paid for.
The district is fixing to ask our parents to pay for a tax increase while allowing those who pay no taxes into FBISD to come to our schools.
Sincerely,
Grant Townsend
