A protest Thursday, in Fort Bend County outside of Cinco Ranch High School in Katy, started earlier today and as of noon time, an eyewitness said he could see about 150 to 200 students involved in a protest about the school district’s recently announced layoffs. Wishing to remain anonymous, he said the high school students are carrying signs and are chanting “Save Our Teachers,” and getting responses from honking motorists.
Details are sketchy, but accounts indicate that this is the second Katy ISD school that staged a walkout. Earlier students were reported to have walked out of class from Morton High School in support of the same protest.
The eyewitness said the students are in front of Cinco Ranch High School and not at the corner of LaCenterra shopping center, which is where some of them may have been at one time.
Law enforcement officials were reportedly at the scene.
