Parks Youth Ranch invites area high school juniors and senior students to be a part of Another Night Out — Homelessness 101.
This awareness event is about the hardships and struggles of at-risk and homeless youth. Event participants will have an overnight opportunity to experience a small part of what some of their not-so-fortunate homeless peers must endure regularly in order to survive.
Participants will be raising money to support the works of Parks Youth Ranch. Parks Youth Ranch opened its doors in 2011 to provide emergency shelter, counseling and life changing services to abused, at-risk, and homeless youths ages 7-17. In the seven years since opening, the shelter has provided over 35,000 nights of shelter and has served over 750 children.
The event begins Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. at Constellation Field, where participants will spend the night “homeless.”
Another Night Out costs $20 and is a chaperoned event. Student participants must be pre-registered by Feb. 9 and have signed parental consent prior to the event. Event underwriting and sponsorships are also available, starting at $100.
