Suburban Sugar Land Women shared 2013 In Review programs highlights that encouraged, educated, equipped, engaged, and empowered!
January, donations of school supplies and clothing to three Fort Bend schools and annual scholarships available online.
February, held an African American History program with a salute to the military.
March, provided education and training on parents’ rights, how to conduct pleasant, powerful, and productive meetings.
April, awarded four first – time and six continuing scholarships and held a scholarship recipients luncheon.
May, recruited board members and phenomenal partners.
June – July, sponsored children and youth at summer camp
August, they mailed scholarship recipients checks to their colleges and universities; and they had their annual appreciation reception.
September, they had a youth financial literacy training for over 150 eighth graders.
October, they honored our founders and CEO for 25 years of exemplary leadership and service community by awarding them SSLW highest service honor-“ Lifetime Service Legends” award. This event was a highly successful fundraiser that raised over $25,000 in minutes thanks to Kirbyjon Hines Caldwell, Senior Pastor, Windsor Village United Methodist Church in Houston and many others .
November, families were given generous donations of food and supplies.
December, food, clothing, and supplies were distributed to the homeless, veterans, and disabled.
2014 Preview: SSLW will continue our purpose, mission, and vision of FREE and OPEN to the PUBLIC programs: annual, competitive, academic scholarships are available until February 28 online; various education and training such as how to conduct pleasant and productive meetings, parents’ rights, financial literacy, college – career readiness, mentoring, tutoring, voter education and training; summer camp; board development; emergency support; adopt families, schools, nursing centers, and a park; wellness, educational, civic, and cultural programs ; appreciation reception; partnerships; collaborations; and special requests.
