The City of Sugar Land has scheduled a grand opening of the Imperial Park Recreation Center, 234 Matlage Way, for the community on Saturday, July 30, from noon to 4 p.m.
The new recreation center was designed to create a “recreation campus atmosphere” for all ages. The 17,000-square-foot facility, located next to the City’s Community Center and Senior Center, includes a full gymnasium, an exercise room, two multipurpose rooms, a kitchen and a patio/garden area.
Interactive demonstrations, healthy refreshments, video game tournaments and facility tours are just a few of the activities planned for residents and the surrounding community during the grand opening.
The Acrodunk team of Houston will perform a 30-minute acrobatic dunk show after Mayor James Thompson officially welcomes the community to the City’s first recreation center.
The annual facility usage card rate is $10 for residents and $46 for non-residents; all activities will be free during the grand opening from noon to 4 p.m. on July 30. Parking is available onsite.
