The City of Sugar Land will accept applications through Oct. 31 for the next Sugar Land 101 class scheduled to begin in January 2014.
Sugar Land 101 participants learn about City operations from Sugar Land’s top managers. The class also includes a mock city council meeting and two citywide tours, including a behind-the-scenes-look at City facilities.
Spring 2013 alumni Ellen Tarver plans “to share knowledge with neighbors, be a better informed citizen and potentially join a board, commission or task force” and fellow alumni Debbie Cortez encourages residents to apply as “we all need to be more aware of our city government, and this is such an enjoyable way to do it.”
Those applying for Sugar Land 101 must be residents of Sugar Land for at least one year, registered voters, over 21 years of age, not currently holding or running for elected office and willing to attend the 10-week session.
