Volunteers at Sugar Land’s animal shelter help improve the chances of successful adoptions for the facility’s many dogs and cats.
To honor their contributions, Animal Services volunteers are being featured with adoptable animals at www.sugarlandtx.gov/public_works/animal_services during National Volunteer Appreciation Week.
“Our volunteers give the love, exercise and socialization needed to help place our dogs and cats,” said Animal Services Manager Kathryn Ketchum. “We have a group of experienced dog walkers who are truly some of the most dedicated individuals I have seen. They each have a two-hour weekly shift. Some have more than one shift, and sometimes they stay past their two hours to make sure everyone gets walked and receives extra playtime. They come every week, rain or shine, to make sure our dogs get out twice a day, six days a week. It is truly fabulous.”
The Sugar Land animal shelter’s dogs and cats are available for a moderate adoption fee that covers spay/neutering, de-worming, flea treatment, vaccinations and microchips with lifetime registration.
