With spring right around the corner, the City of Sugar Land is already making plans for its upcoming event season.
Kicking off the event season this year is the third annual Cultural Kite Festival on Saturday, March 3, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Sugar Land Memorial Park, 15300 University Blvd.
Activities will include a kite museum, kite-making workshop, kite flying lessons and competitions, walk-around entertainment and cultural performances. There will also be food and refreshment booths with cultural cuisine available during the event.
Extra parking and shuttle services will be accessible at the UH Sugar Land Campus, 14000 University Blvd. This year’s event promises extremely beautiful and diverse kites along with cultural entertainment.
On Saturday, March 31, from noon to 3 p.m., the Easter bunny will hop into Eldridge Park, 2511 Eldridge Road, for the annual EGGStravaganza event.
The day will be filled with the City’s very unique “egg scrambles”; children will run around the field collecting as many prize-filled eggs as possible. Free pictures with the Easter bunny will be offered to the first 200 guests, and this year’s event will include something new — a giant foam-filled kids’ play pit.
The excitement continues at Oyster Creek Park, 4033 State Highway 6 South, for the annual Concerts in the Park series. Free concerts are scheduled each Sunday beginning April 15 through May 20, from 5-7 p.m. The final concert will be held at Eldridge Park on May 20.
The community is invited to enjoy free activities and concerts from a variety of music groups and performers.
For those who choose not to pack a picnic, the First Colony Lion’s Club will sell refreshments during each concert. Parking and activities during each event will be free.
