Sugar Land Garden Club is hosting its 14th annual Garden Art & Plant Sale on Saturday, September 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Sugar Lakes Clubhouse, 930 Sugar Lakes Drive. For more information visit SugarLandGardenClub.org or call 281-491-9609. Admission is FREE.
The Sugar Land Garden Club’s plant sale is unlike others due to the unique varieties of plant offerings, the expert advice offered to customers from the knowledgeable garden club members, and its beautiful location among the mature plantings at the Sugar Lakes Clubhouse in Sugar Land.
Plants are from Treesearch Farms, a provider of unique and well-adapted plants for the Gulf Coast area. The plants available at our sale have been hand-selected by the SLGC plant selection committee along with the recommendations of Heidi Sheesley, owner of Treesearch Farms. Only perennials, flowering shrubs, annuals and vines which have a proven history of doing well in our area, based on the past experience of the SLGC members, will be offered.
The plant list for the upcoming sale totals nearly 150 varieties. One-gallon and three-gallon plants are offered at very competitive prices.
What garden art items will be available? Cathleen Disney will offer her sought after Texas wildflower-themed hand-painted ceramic boots. Also for sale will be artist Janet Green’s wire wrapped garden art, Ron Bailey’s hand crafted birdhouses, Anne Ondrusek’s “Lady in the Garden” jellies & pickles, fabric artist and instructor Connie Williams and her garden aprons and totes. Wrought iron bottle trees, garden hand lotion bars and tools, hats and belts will also be available.
Sugar Land Garden Club offers two scholarships to horticultural students each year. This annual event is one of two major fundraisers that support the club’s charitable endeavors. 2012 marks the club’s 80th anniversary.
