Enhanced services will begin at both City recycling centers in the next few weeks.
The centers are being converted into “dual-stream systems,” meaning:
• paper products and flattened card board will be placed in a green container; and
• plastics numbered 1-5 and 7, metal and glass containers will be placed in a blue container.
Both centers will now accept all colors of glass bottles and jars.
Signs detailing items accepted will be posted at the center and on each recycling container.
The Scenic Rivers center, 4802 Scenic Rivers (formerly Oilfield Road), will be closed from June 24 through July 6 while the facility is converted to a dual-stream system. The Gillingham Lane facility, 113 Gillingham Lane, will be converted by June 30.
Update: The Scenic Rivers center will not open until July 13. The Gillingham Center conversion has been completed, and items are being accepted.
