The Fort Bend Horse Task Force of Texas AgriLife Extension Service Fort Bend County is sponsoring a “Summer Basic Horsemanship School”, Thursday, June 21, & Friday, June 22, from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds “O. D. Tucker Rodeo Arena”, 4310 Highway 36 South in Rosenberg, Texas (no rain outs – covered arena).
Pre-registration is required for those wishing to participate – limited to first 25 paid participants. Registration deadline is Friday, June 15. Registration forms are available at the Fort Bend County Extension office located at 1402 Band Road, Suite 100 in Rosenberg. Forms may also be downloaded from our website at http://fortbend.agrilife.org Checks may be made payable to: Fort Bend Horse Task Force and the cost to participate is $70 (lunch included).
School Instructors are from Texas A&M and they will cover topics such as: Adjustment of Equipment, Safety, Use of Body, Leg and Rein Aids, Stopping, Functional Horsemanship, Horse Theft Awareness, Bits & Biting Lecture/Demo, Horse Response to Bit Pressure, Direction, Gait Transitions, Training Maneuvers, Advanced Maneuvers, Group Rides and Showmanship at Halter. A negative “coggins” test will be required for all participant’s horses. There will be no stalls available and no refunds will be given.
