Youngsters enrolled in the Bilingual and ESL (English as a Second Language) Summer School program at Settlers Way Elementary School celebrated Independence Day with a school-wide parade on July 3 to show their patriotism for our great country.
Students and teachers dressed in festive costumes – with the Statute of Liberty being a favorite among many – and paraded around the campus before a crowd of parents, school administrators and other supporters.
Settlers Way Elementary School is one of three Fort Bend ISD campuses to offer a Bilingual/ESL Summer School program. Drabek and Jones Elementary Schools also host the program for bilingual and ESL students entering kindergarten and first grade, newcomers (whose native country is other than the United States) and rising stars (bilingual students entering grades 4-6 who need accelerated language support).
The eight-week program ends August 2.
