Some good old fashioned police work nabs car burglars in their tracks.
Rolling and patrolling on the night of May 19, 2011 just minutes before midnight, a Sugar Land police sergeant noticed a car pull out of the Eldridge Road library. Knowing that it was waaaay past time for business, he stopped the car. During their ensuing chat, the sergeant was able to determine that a couple of the driver’s buddies were lurking in the area. A pair of nearby officers responded to the area and began to ferret out the pair of lurkers.
Sure enough, two pedestrian cronies of the Eldridge Road driver were found near Lakeview and Gillingham. Ultimately, police were able to determine that the trio was in the area to burglarize vehicles. Each of the three were found to be in possession of the tools of their trade, rocks and slingshots.
All three were taken into custody for possession of a criminal instrument. No windows were broken that night, and no cars in that area burglarized.
All three subjects were from Houston.
