A Rosenberg teen was killed and three others injured in a traffic accident last Friday evening shortly before 8 pm. Rosenberg police responded to a fatality traffic accident on US 59 when an 18 wheeler broadsided a passenger car, according to Rosenberg police Lieutenant Colin Davidson.
He went on to explain that accident scene investigator Sergeant Joseph Rogers determined that an 18 wheel cargo transport vehicle was traveling northbound in the 2800 block of US 59 when it collided with a Toyota Camry that had entered the northbound lanes of US 59 near Cottonwood Church Road.The Toyota was broadsided by the 18 wheeler as it attempted to get across the highway at the grade crossing.
The Toyota was driven by Vondre Ratcliff, an 18 year old Richmond resident. The 18 wheeler was being operated by a 58 year old Houston man identified as Carlos Faibisch. In the Toyota along with Ratcliff were three passengers. They have been identified as Brianna Castillo and Savanna Perez, both 16, and 17 year old Gabrielle Garcia, all of Rosenberg. According to Davidson, when the truck hit the car, Ratcliff, Castillo, and Perez were all injured. Gabrielle Garcia died at the scene.
Ratcliff and Garcia were seriously injured and taken to Hermann Hospital in Houston via ambulance. Perez was treated at Oak Bend Medical Center. The accident remains under investigation.
