The Grand Lodge of Texas performed a Masonic Cornerstone Ceremony for Constellation Field on the morning of April 10. Attending the ceremony on behalf of Fort Bend County and the City of Sugar Land were Mayor Jim Thompson; Council members Harish Jajoo, Amy Mitchell, Don Smithers, Bridget Yeung, and Allen Bogard; Fort Bend County Precinct 3 Constable Jim Cook and Chief Deputy Aaron Tyksinski; and City Project Manager Mike Hobbs. A total of 118 people attended the ceremony for the cornerstone, which is located on the left side of the main entrance archway.
The Grand Lodge of Texas and the City of Sugar Land also exchanged autographed baseballs and plaques to commemorate the occasion. The baseball received by Mayor Thompson was autographed by the current officers of the Grand Lodge of Texas, while the ball received by the Grand Lodge of Texas was autographed by city officials for Sugar Land. The ceremony was followed with a fajita lunch held at Sugar Land Masonic Lodge.
Constellation Field is the first baseball field in Texas to have a Masonic Cornerstone. The ceremony performed at a cornerstone laying dedicates the structure to its future purpose and symbolizes the initiative and leadership required to complete the edifice for the benefit of the community.
