The “Brent Event” was first organized in 2010 to help a young adult cancer patient, Brent Weaver, with the expenses incurred in his battle with Ewings Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer. The first event was very successful in raising money for Brent and his wife Kelly.
Before he passed in 2011, Brent felt he wanted to continue the tradition of helping others and asked his family to form a foundation to make it happen. He wrote, “Lately I have felt very strongly about the importance of service in our lives and communities. Regardless of our beliefs, religion, race, finances, social status, class, … etc, it is important the we help others around us, neighbors, random people, other religions, other races, other nationalities, and people from all circumstances.”
In keeping with his wishes, family and friends have organized the “Brent Event Round 2” to help those who are currently battling cancer. The event, a 5K run, family walk, will be held Saturday, October 20, Sugar Land Memorial Park. Join them for a family fun filled day with food, games, and live band.
