Every year the T.W. Davis Family YMCA recognizes an outstanding volunteer for their generosity of spirit, hard work and compassion for others. We are pleased to announce that David Howard has been named this year’s YMCA Volunteer of the Year.
Howard was presented with his award at the YMCA of Greater Houston’s Annual Celebration back on Tuesday, November 19 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel Houston. He joined 32 others, each representing an individual YMCA center.
“David has been an incredible volunteer and as our YMCA Board Chair, his enthusiasm and dedication has led us to raising over $300,000 in our Partners Campaign. With his years in the YMCA, his presence, his stories, and his positive attitude are contagious. He is always the first to help and attend all events. David has left a permanent mark on the T.W. Davis YMCA and the Richmond/Rosenberg Community. Thank you David!” said YMCA Executive Director Jess Stuart.
“From coaching, mentoring and motivating others, each selfless act by our volunteers impact each Y community in a positive way,” said YMCA President and CEO Clark Baker. “The use of their time and talents to impact the lives of individuals and families for the better makes the YMCA a better place for everyone. Without their help, we would not be able to offer the quality programs and services we provide today.”
Throughout the year, the YMCA relies on volunteers to assist in different capacities. Volunteers come from different walks of life, but all have one trait in common—a desire to help others. Together, volunteers empower people and communities to learn, grow and thrive. For more information about volunteer opportunities at the YMCA, visit www.ymcahouston.org.
