Typhoon Texas Waterpark, featuring more than 30 waterslides, a lazy river the length of five football fields, a Texas-sized wavepool and massive children’s waterpark play structures, will open Saturday, May 28, at 10:30 a.m.
Houston’s most anticipated family entertainment destination in years will debut with a Texas-sized celebration featuring live music and fireworks at dusk. The waterpark also will have extended hours for its grand opening weekend, with gates opening at 10:30 a.m. and closing at 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29. Normal operating hours will be daily from 10:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Typhoon Texas is located at 555 Katy Fort Bend Road next to Katy Mills Mall, 1.5 miles west of the Grand Parkway.
Visitors to Typhoon Texas will enjoy the park’s signature experiences including the eight-lane Lone Star Racers and the Duelin’ Daltons, featuring a true looping waterslide where sliders are jettisoned through a translucent tube after the floor in a specially-designed launch capsule drops out from under them.
Typhoon Texas also will offer the newest waterpark gaming experience, Slide Boarding, which uses a hi-tech ride vehicle with an embedded game controller to create a futuristic video game integrated waterslide.
Its Gully Washer kid’s play area features an 800-gallon water bucket and a play structure standing more than four stories tall. The primary play structure within this children’s Rain Fortress will offer more than 100 spray areas, eight platforms, seven different slides, elevated walkways and rope bridges.
Typhoon Texas will feature several food and beverage outlets, including barbecue slow-smoked on-site daily, as well as private cabanas, premium lounge areas and a private picnic area for groups.
