Now in his second term as U.S. Representative for District 22, Pete Olson is a direct line between the residents of his district and Washington D.C.
The Central Fort Bend Chamber Alliance will proudly present Olson, who will provide a “Congressional Update,” on Tuesday, April 19 at 7:30 a.m. at the Marriott Town Square, 16090 City Walk, Sugar Land.
The breakfast is sponsored by CenterPoint Energy, TXU Energy, and Wharton County Junior College/University of Houston Sugar Land. Corporate support is provided by Aliana Development Co., Amegy Bank, the Greater Fort Bend County Economic Development Corporation and HCSS Construction Software.
Olson was appointed by Republican leadership to serve on the House Energy & Commerce Committee, the oldest standing legislative committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. The Energy & Commerce Committee has wide jurisdiction over the energy, healthcare, and telecommunications industries, including oversight of five Cabinet-level departments and seven independent agencies.
In 1998, Olson became an aide to Texas Senator Phil Gramm, where he worked to promote the interests of Texas’ premier military and aerospace facilities – including the Johnson Space Center, Ellington Field, and the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center. Olson would later serve as Chief of Staff for Senator John Cornyn, assisting the Senator to advance a conservative agenda that included confirming Supreme Court Justices John Roberts and Samuel Alito and passing legislation to secure our borders.
