Each week, many of the libraries in the Fort Bend County library system present a free activity hour just for infants from 1 month to 12 months of age. Mother Goose Time, for caregivers and their infants, provides age-appropriate stories, songs, and activities especially designed for our youngest book-lovers.
On Thursday, September 20, the University Branch Library will present a special Mother Goose Night Time, beginning at 6:30 pm, for parents who work during the day.
Not only is reading to a child a wonderful opportunity for bonding between parent and child, it has also been shown to stimulate brain development. Reading aloud to children exposes them to the sounds and cadences of a human voice, resulting in an earlier and stronger grasp of vocabulary skills.
The University Branch Library is located at 14010 University Blvd in Sugar Land, on the UH campus. The program is free and open to the public. For more information, call the branch library at 281-633-5100 or the library’s Public Information Office at 281-341-2677.
