Wharton County Junior College (WCJC) recently held its inaugural invitational golf classic at the Wharton Country Club with proceeds from the tournament benefitting the WCJC President’s Scholarship Fund. The tournament raised $10,000 for scholarships.
The four-player scramble had a full slate of teams in both flights. “I want to extend a special thank you to our sponsors and tournament donors for their support of the WCJC President’s Scholarship Fund, said President McCrohan. I appreciate that so many from the community came out to support the tournament.” Awards were presented to the first through third place winners in both flights.
In the morning flight, the first place winner was the team sponsored by Jonnie Svatek and included Johnnie Svatek, Philip Wuthrich, Bryce Kocian, and Richard Lesak. Finishing second was the team sponsored by the Wharton Chamber of Commerce which included Michael Limas, Preston Prado, Chris Kolafa, and Javier Gutierrez. Third place was grabbed by the team of Billy Bahnsen, Terry Freese, Michael Quinn, and George Washington and was sponsored by Chris Young.
The afternoon flight first place winner was sponsored by Exelon Generation/CBEC with team members Linda Gonzalez, John Gonzalez, Petey Lara, and Chris Bucholtz. The second place award went to the team sponsored by First State Bank of Louise and included Taylor Ustynik, George Washington, Travis Washington, and Robert Washington. The third place award went to the team sponsored by the WCJC Alumni Association and included Jerry Slaughter, Kelly Tant, Carlton Hudgins, and David Tripulas.
