Willis Ferguson Ebarb

Willis Ferguson Ebarb, age 88, of Missouri City, Texas passed away on July 23, 2016 at Methodist Hospital in Sugar Land, Texas surrounded by his family and friends.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Willis and Bertie Ebarb; sister, Pauline Arant and husband, Dunham; sister, Dorothy Carter and her husband Horace; and brothers, James F. Ebarb and his wife Angie, John L. Ebarb and his wife Dorothy.

He was born in El Dorado, Arkansas on October 22, 1927 to William Willis Ebarb and Bertie Ferguson Ebarb. He was nicknamed “Fergie” early on as he grew up in El Dorado. Fergie’s family moved to Homer, Louisiana for his high school years.

He excelled in sports, making all-state in football and receiving a scholarship from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

He then joined the Marines and served his country in the Pacific Arena, his group being the last to leave China before it was closed by the Communists.

Along with these accomplishments, later in life he felt very honored to be a part of establishing St. Marks Catholic Church in southwest Houston, where he was a founding father and attended faithfully for many years.

He began working for Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation in Shreveport. He was then transferred to Houston, Texas in September of 1961. He had a long career, retiring in 1983 from the Land Department of Texas Eastern.

Fergie married Jill Edge on November 23, 1961 and were married for 55 years. They were blessed with two precious children, Kim and Jeff. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted family man.

Fergie is survived by his wife Jill, his daughter Kim Ebarb Lacy of Sugar Land and her husband Paul, and his son Jeffrey Ebarb and his wife Patti of Missouri City. Also, he is survived by his four precious grandchildren that were the light of his life, Lauren Kendall Lacy, Cody Ryan Ebarb, Eric Jeffrey Ebarb and Brooke Nicole Ebarb. Along with these, he is survived by a large number of special nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved that are located in California, Louisiana and Texas.

The Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm with visitation at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at The Settegast-Kopf Company at Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway Sugar Land, Texas 77478.
