FORT BEND ISD – Willowridge High School (WHS) honored 25 individuals at its Sixth Annual Wall of Honor Banquet, held at The Power Center. The theme for this year’s event was “Class and Character Personified.” Hosted by the Willowridge High School Athletic Booster Club, Wall of Honor Board of Directors and NBA free agent, T.J. Ford, the event recognizes WHS graduates, current and former teachers, and community members for their outstanding character and contributions to the Willowridge High School community.
Lee Crews, principal at Willowridge, presided over the induction ceremony. Khambrel Marshall, KPRC Channel 2 meteorologist, served as master of ceremonies; and motivational speaker, Adrienne Rowe (WHS Class of 1989) served as guest speaker. T.J. Ford and his mother, Mary Ford, received special recognition from the Wall of Honor Board Members for having a vision and cofounding the Wall of Honor recognition program. Special guests in attendance were Jim Rice, FBISD Board Member, and his wife Mary; Jerry Wyatt, Mayor Pro-Tem, City of Missouri City; and Danny Nguyen, Councilmember, City of Missouri City. Wyatt presented certificates to the honorees on behalf of Mayor Allen Owen.
The 2011 Wall of Honor Inductees are: Ronda Aldridge, Anthony Armstrong, Larry Blackmon, Elaine Mitchell Brewer, Nettie Clark, Michael Curl, Melanie Finley, Mary Ford, Tyra Gamble-Ross, Shonta Greenwood, David Griffin, Gerald Hawkins, M.D., Nelson Howard, Krystal Irven, Hazel Jackson, Rose Johnson-Branch, Rev. Marvin King, Jr., Roderick Martindale, Amber Johnson Robinett, M.D., Judy Singleton, Margaret Sloan, Tina Thompson, Russell Walton, Alice Washington, and Rev. Don Williams.
Proceeds from the event have allowed the WHS Wall of Honor Board of Directors to award more than 20 scholarships to deserving students over the past six years, and provide funding to support the Willowridge Athletic Booster Club and athletic programs.
