After sending a friend a text message that she had beaten her child, a 24 year old Rosenberg area woman has been arrested and charged with injury to a child.
Sheriff’s spokesman, Bob Haenel said that on April 7 sheriff’s detectives were sent to Oak Bend Medical Center to investigate the injuries to a four year old boy. Haenel said, “The boy had been taken to the hospital by a friend of the boy’s mother and the boy’s stepfather.”
He went on to say that detectives were told that the boy’s mother had returned home late Saturday after a party. Then sometime after that she sent a text message to a friend indicating that she had beaten her son. Her friend was worried so she went to home to check on the boy. According to Haenel, the four year old boy had been beaten.
The mother’s friend was so concerned she and the stepfather took the boy to the hospital. CPS was notified and has conducted a separate investigation. Haenel said, “During an interview at the Fort Bend County Children’s Advocacy Center, the boy said his mother had beaten him.”
On Tuesday, April 10, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Monique Jasmine Garces, 24. She was arrested at an address in the 1100 block of Powell in Richmond.
Her 4 year old son and his six month old sibling, are in the care of family members.
Garces’ bond was $25,000.
