Sugar Land-based Gyro Republic is opening another Fort Bend County location in mid-July.
The fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant is set to expand to Richmond’s Waterview Town Center, CEO Rehan Ranpuri said.
The new location will be adjacent to the fast-growing Aliana development at 4808 Waterview Town Center Dr., Ste. 100.
Gyro Republic opened its first location in Sugar Land in 2019 at 19920 Southwest Fwy.
Ranpuri said he spent the last year weathering the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and feels now is the time for his business to grow.
He said educating customers who may be unfamiliar with the concept of a gyro has been a great opportunity to convert skeptics into returning visitors.
“In about a year-and-a-half, I’ve had so many new customers and they have not heard of a gyro,” Ranpuri said. “And that’s where we came up with our line, ‘However you say it, it’s all delicious.’”
The restaurant’s assembly-line style gives customers a choice between a pita, rice bowl or salad, and then their choice of protein (chicken, falafel or gyro), toppings (tomato, cucumber, onions, feta cheese and more) and their house-made sauces like Creamy White, Mild Orange and Red Hot.
“It’s very healthy, and very flavorful, but at the same time it’s super fast,” Ranpuri said. “You can build your bowl in less than a minute and be in and out of here. It’s very fresh, all of the toppings, and everything here is made from scratch.”
Ranpuri said Gyro Republic is hiring both at the Richmond location and at its third location near Houston Baptist University at 7549 Southwest Fwy., Suite 300, which is set to open later this summer.
