The owners of Karachi Restaurant in Sugar Land have opened an ice cream shop to go with their Pakistani cuisine.
Karachi Ice Cream Parlor, 11315 State Highway 6, is adjacent to the flagship Karachi Restaurant. The parlor held its grand opening July 1.
Ice cream flavors like rose, rabri (made with condensed milk and nuts) and peshwari (made with pistachios and Kewra, an essential oil derived from the fragrant Screwpine plant native to southeast Asia) are among those traditionally found in Pakistan and across South Asia.
Also on offer are the popular mango lassi, a yogurt and fruit-based drink; and Falooda, an Indian drink made with rose syrup, jelly, ice cream, milk and sweet basil seeds.
Kulfi, a frozen dairy dessert, is made with dried fruit and garnished with cardamom, saffron or pistachio nuts.
Karachi Ice Cream Parlor is open from 4 p.m.-midnight on Monday and Wednesday through Friday. It is open from 11 a.m.-midnight Saturday and Sunday and closed on Tuesdays.
