A Fort Bend County man has been sentenced to 55 years in prison for sexually assaulting a child back in 2018, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
James Edward Borrego, 26, of Rosenberg, on Aug. 6 pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated sexual assault of a child and one count of indecency with a child by sexual contact and was sentenced as part of a plea agreement, according to the office.
Police in May 2018 were dispatched to a Rosenberg home, where a woman told investigators she found a video of Borrego sexually abusing her child, according to the office.
Borrego told police during the initial investigation that he had sexually abused the elementary school-aged child and recorded it, according to spokesperson Wesley Wittig. The child also gave details about the incident, according to the office.
“My hope is that the family can find solace in the outcome of this case, and that their voices encourage others to speak out to report and stop child abuse,” assistant district attorney Tristyl McInnis said.
