H-E-B, which has five area locations across Missouri City, Richmond and Sugar Land, has resumed its “H-E-B Quest for Texas Best” search. The annual contest samples food and beverage products from around the state to see which ones win the honor of being featured at all of the Texas grocery giant’s stores.
H-E-B said suppliers and manufacturers who want to enter the contest must submit details about their products at heb.com/quest by April 7. Qualified participants will compete for a combined $70,000 in cash prizes as well as the opportunity to feature their product on H-E-B shelves.
“We have the opportunity to connect with even more Texas-based innovators each year, which helps us further curate rich and robust offerings for customers,” James Harris, H-E-B’s director of diversity, inclusion and supplier diversity, said in a news release.
Following the entry deadline, products will be narrowed down to a top 20 by H-E-B’s business development managers, and those products will be presented before a panel of judges Aug. 24-26 at the San Antonio Food Bank.
H-E-B said products must not be available at any other large chain or retailer, and the vendors must be willing to sell exclusively to H-E-B. All products must also be packaged.
The grand prize-winning product’s manufacturer will win $25,000, while first place will win $20,000. H-E-B will award $15,000 to the second-place winner and $10,000 to the third-place winner.
